From Chalon-sur-Saône to Verdun-sur-le-Doubs

In the morning, start your itinerary in Chalon-sur-Saône, city of Nièpce, and take the Voie Bleue and the Eurovélo 6 to Verdun-sur-le-Doubs, capital of the pôchouse and confluence of the Saône and the Doubs.

Once you arrive in Verdun, you will quickly discover that water plays a very important role. As you cross the bridge into the city, you will be treated to a breathtaking view of the confluence of the Saône and Doubs rivers.
In fact, this is where you will have the best view to immortalize the moment !

Leave your bicycles safely in one of the bicycle shelters and take your time to wander around the centre of Verdun-sur-le-Doubs. The keys can be collected from the tourist office 150 metres away. The service is free !

Discovering Verdun-sur-le-Doubs

Once you've dropped off your bikes, it's time to wander through the narrow streets of the old town ! Verdun-sur-le-Doubs has witnessed many historical events, which have shaped its landscape. Today, we can see the traces of its past, as we come across some of the fortifications that have survived through the ages. Towers, old buildings and small walls can be discovered with the help of a leaflet to be collected from the tourist office.

It is now time to leave Saône Doubs Bresse and join our neighbours in Seurre. On your way, the village of Saunières, situated on the banks of the Doubs, and the village of Charnay-lès-Chalon, where you will find an old dam and an old lock.
