An amateur painter (some of whose work you can see in the gîte), Ghislaine is passionate about art and travel, and welcomes you to a delightful, carefully restored early 20th-century country house, set in a peaceful residential area on the edge of a bucolic little meadow (which she owns) in a small village typical of the Chalonnais countryside. Nestling on the banks of the River Saône, Écuelles is home to the second "large-gauge" lock on the famous river (through which many pleasure boats and barges pass, for a guaranteed change of scenery...).) and boasts a soothing, unspoilt rural setting of agricultural and natural plains (between meadows, fields of crops, rivers and forests) nestling on the edge of an immense area of wild woodland dotted with ponds (made up of several vast state-owned forests), the real "green lung" of the area classified & protected as a "Natura 2000 Zone" for its rich ecosystem (to be explored on relaxing walks).
