Les oiseaux hivernants de l'étang de Pontoux
In winter, the ponds of Saône-et-Loire become essential refuges for hundreds of birds fleeing the cold of northern regions. One of these is the Etang de Pontoux, classified as a Sensitive Natural Area (ENS), which is particularly rich in ornithological diversity.
Accompanied by an expert nature guide, participants will have the opportunity to observe these visitors from the north at close quarters. Thanks to the closed observatory on the pond, you'll have a privileged vantage point from which to admire these birds in their natural environment, without disturbing them. It's a unique opportunity to understand their way of life, their strategies for adapting to winter, and the issues involved in their conservation. Wetlands, like the Pontoux pond, play a crucial role in preserving biodiversity. They are feeding, resting and wintering sites for many bird species. However, these environments are under threat from climate change, disturbance and the reduction of natural habitats.
This morning's event is part of a drive to raise awareness of the need to protect aquatic environments and the species that depend on them. By taking part, you will be able to find out more about these birds and the conservation initiatives undertaken by the Saône-et-Loire department.
Morning visit. Exact timetable to be communicated on the day of booking
